Background:

SPAN (Somali Parents Autism Network) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit community organization organized to support Somali parents of children with Autism, co-morbid with other developmental disabilities. SPAN was founded by parents in 2013. SPAN programs include social networking gatherings, with a culturally sensitive emphasis, and information exchange sessions, fostering greater access to funding to assist families in meeting the needs of children with Autism. SPAN, Minnesota’s leading grassroots Autism organization for Somali families, exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism. We do this by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by Somali people on the spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education,
